Illinois Traction System - Coach "#531"
built 1913
by William Hall, Chuck Zeiler, and Paul DeVerter.
Copyright (C) 2002 William Hall. A product of Port City Car Company.
HISTORY:
This model reflects the coach #531 as it appeared in 1922 when it was taken to the Central Electric Railroad Association convention in Indianapolis in 1922, as a part of a four car train including the Class B locomotive #1578, this coach #531, the sleeper EDWARDSVILLE, and the parlor-observation #513 CLINTON.
The passenger view includes a number of passengers, who also happen to be the authors and beta testers of the car.
The car had standard air brakes and knuckle couplers, and was able to be entrained with steam railroad cars. The interior was dark mahogany veneer, with decorative gold leaf linings.
Further information may be found the books THE LINCOLN LAND TRACTION by James D. Johnson (1965 author) and ILLINOIS TERMINAL-THE ELECTRIC YEARS by Paul H Stringham (1989 Interurban Press)
We hope you enjoy the ITS #531 Passenger car.
