BACKGROUND
Electric railways replaced mule cars in Houston, Texas around the turn of the last century. Car Stop shelters were located at important locations to protect patrons. This Car Stop was built early in the century at the entrance to the Volksfest Park in what is now near East Houston. The decaying structure still stands, barely; about 1/4 mile from the site of the last Carbarn of the HE Co.
