C & S Breezer

Home

This model is believed to be a Brill 10 bench single truck open car, circa 1900, commonly known as a "Breezer". The exact prototype is unknown, see Background below. Brill cars of this type were sold all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico, as well the rest of the world. This car is an early model which had no air brakes, and a rudimentary electrical system. The original model of this car was made by Matt Austin in July 2002. He entrusted it to PCCC to bring it up to speed. We have substantially reworked the parts, textures, engine, and sound files, and added animation and clanking chains to the hand brake - which is all the brakes it has..

Dimensions and interior are taken from photographs and drawings of the originals, as well as other contemporary sources. Some liberties have been taken to make the car user friendly, and some innovation was necessary where there were no documents to guide us, and to insure adequate operation in the MSTS environment.

UNIQUE FEATURES:
-accurate car body rendition
-clanging brake chain noises
-bell sound loop
-animated brakes apply and release in the manner of the era, on only the automatic or train brake
-controller handle and box of the motorcar and traction era, with appropriate motor noises
-headlamp Golden Glow color
-forward and reverse headlamps, no marker or classification lights, see above
-Motorman of the period.

KNOWN ISSUES AND PROBLEMS:
The gooseneck brake shaft animation is quite spectacular, if not entirely accurate.
To use the front coupler, couple to the car or train with the front coupler of the car, reverse, open and immediately close the throttle. When the train begins to move in the reverse direction, it's safe to open the throttle again.
